1) ABOUT US
This site is about heritage destinations and themes, which are based upon historical events that have impacted on the West Midlands and are available for the public to visit.
All of the places mentioned have been personally visited and it is hoped that the descriptions will encourage and stimulate you to find out even more concerning places and themes discussed and possibly make a trip for yourself.
The West Midlands may not be the first place one associates with heritage (with the possible exception of Stratford-upon-Avon), but one does not have to dig deeply to find that the region is rich in this respect.
The Industrial Revolution which had an impact on the whole of the western world started here - Ironbridge Gorge is a world Heritage Site. The novel Bracebridge Hall by Washington Irving is based upon Aston Hall (currently closed for refurbishment) in Birmingham.
Many heritage websites contain just a brief detail of the location and directions, often with out of date information and very little explanation as to how the place in question fits into history. The aim of this site is to give more information, without becoming unreadable, feedback is welcomed and the site will gradually expand as time goes by. Please bookmark the site and visit regularly to view or even suggest / request new content.
